FAQ Questions we hear first

Questions MEP contractors ask us first

What is Cirkt?
Cirkt is a takeoff and project-tracking service for MEP contractors. You send drawings, schedules and specs with a short brief. AI does the first takeoff pass, a human reviewer checks and signs it off, and the results come back as structured data. The same data powers a Live Tracker and a dashboard for your job.
Who is Cirkt for?
MEP contractors: mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, controls and BMS firms that work from drawing sets and schedules. The Live Tracker is set up around the systems on your job, so tell us what you need in your brief.
What is AI takeoff?
AI takeoff means software reads your drawings and schedules and counts the equipment, devices and quantities for you, instead of an estimator doing it by hand. At Cirkt, the AI does the first pass and a human reviewer checks the results and signs them off before they reach you.
What is the Live Tracker?
The Live Tracker is built from your takeoff data. You share its private link with your field crew, who open it on any phone and sign off work as it is done. The office sees progress update as it happens.
How do you keep our drawings secure?
Other clients can never see your projects, connections are encrypted, and you control who in your firm can access each project. Our privacy policy has the details.
Is my data used to train AI?
We don't train AI models on your drawings. The AI providers we use process them to provide their service to us. Ask us if you'd like the details.
How long does a takeoff take?
You get a committed date before we start, based on the size of the set and what you’ve asked for. You’re never waiting without a number.
What does it cost?
We price each project by set size, what your brief asks for, and which tools you turn on. Tell us what you’re working with and we’ll quote it before any work starts.
What if the AI gets something wrong?
That’s what the human review is for. A reviewer checks the results against your drawings and signs them off. Anything ambiguous comes back to you as a question rather than a guess, and you can message your reviewer directly on the project.
What drawings and file types can you work with?
Send what you have: PDFs, images, CAD files and Office files, including drawing sets, schedules and spec books. Hand-marked and photocopied sheets are fine as long as they’re legible, and we’ll tell you before we start if something can’t be read.
Can you take off something that isn’t listed?
Usually, yes. If it’s in your drawings, schedules or specs, tell us what you need in your brief and we’ll confirm scope and price before starting.
Do my field crews need accounts?
No. The Live Tracker is a private link that works on any phone, with no account for your crew. Anyone holding the link can open it, so share it only with your crew. An admin can switch it off at any time, and that stops the link for everyone.
Who can see our projects?
Other clients never can. Inside your firm, Admins see everything and Members see only the projects assigned to them, with read or write access set per person. Cirkt's reviewers can open your projects to do the work, and our service providers process your project data only to deliver the service to us. Anyone you give a Live Tracker link to can open that tracker.
